+ Cody Simpson: Selena Gomez Is ‘A Great Influence’ On Justin Bieber
Posted on: May 05, 2013 by Declan Filed Under: Celebrities, Cody Simpson, Interviews, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez Comments: No Comments

It’s a good thing Selena and Justin have reunited! Justin’s tour mate, Cody Simpson explained to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that he’s so thrilled to see the couple back together — especially because of the positive effect Selena has on the Biebs. Keep reading for more details!

If there’s anyone who knows what Justin Bieber was feeling and who witnessed firsthand how he was acting after Selena Gomez split up with him in December 2012 it’s Cody Simpson, who opened for Justin on his “Believe” tour. And Cody wholeheartedly believes that Justin and Selena’s reunion is for the best, especially in Justin’s case.

Selena Gomez: ‘A Great Influence’ On Justin Bieber:
“It’s good to see that Justin and Selena are back together”, Cody told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY at the Radio Disney Music Awards on April 27. Cody explains that Selena really rubs off on Justin and makes him a better guy. “She’s always been a great influence on him,” Cody says. “She’s amazing every time I’ve met her when I’m with him. She’s a super sweet girl,” he adds. Cody’s just like the rest of us — glad to see Jelena working things out. “I’m happy for them,” he concludes.

Justin Bieber: Melting Down Without Selena Gomez:
It’s hard to argue with Cody’s point about Selena’s positive effects on Justin. In the months after he and Selena split up, he took on a noticeably different, “bad boy” persona.

It started off lightly with Justin just taking off his shirt a little more, but things quickly escalated. He was involved in a drug scandal, he was accused of assaulting his neighbour, and he actually collapsed on stage in the middle of a concert (that one might not be his fault though). And oh yeah, he visited the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam on April 13 and wrote that he hoped Anne “would have been a belieber.”

+ Cody talks about his appearance on “The Biggest Loser”!
Posted on: February 03, 2013 by Declan Filed Under: Appearances, Articles, Cody Simpson, Interviews, Television Comments: No Comments

Australian music sensation, Cody Simpson, makes an appearance on the Feb. 4 edition of NBC‘s The Biggest Loser. He shares his own stories of being bullied in the internet age.

Cody Simpson, age 16, has been taking the teen music world by storm over the last few years, not only in his native Australia but also here in the U.S. Now, he’s set to inspire one of the young contestants on Season 14 of The Biggest Loser with a Feb. 4 appearance on the show. SheKnows was able to speak with Simpson about his appearance and where he’s headed in the music world.

It has to be be tough still being a kid in the public eye and acting as a role model at the same time, but the singer seems to take it all in stride.

He told SheKnows, “When I started to realize I had some kind of voice, an influence amongst young people, I really wanted to take that and use it positively.”

He continued, “I feel very blessed and want to give back as much as I can to kids my age.”

In his appearance on Monday on the inspiring weight loss show, Simpson joins up with contestant Lindsay Bravo, one of this season’s kid ambassadors. Not only is the 13-year-old working to improve her health after a five-year struggle with weight gain, she is also tackling the theme of the week, “Leading by Example.” While Bravo works on an anti-bullying speech for her peers, Simpson steps in to share his own story of being teased.

When asked if it was hard to reveal his own challenges, he said, “Yeah, but I try to be pretty open about it, too, because literally every day online I get hate [from people]. It’s pretty hard to avoid.”

That’s a tough thing to hear from someone so young, but it’s an unfortunate part of being in the limelight in the internet age. Simpson felt it was important to support Bravo and her quest for overall health in her life by talking about his own struggles.

Since the reality show is all about fitness and good nutrition, the teen star knows he needs to keep fit while out on tour. He tries to stay as active as he can with workouts in the gym and has a trainer who comes out on the road with him.

However, he spoke like a true 16-year-old when he shared, “My mom’s always making sure I’m not just eating a bunch of junk.”

Simpson just completed a U.S. leg of Justin Bieber’s Believe tour, and now the duo are off to Europe for a couple of months. Even though he’s performing with the Biebs, the Aussie is really trying to make his own mark on the music world.

Simpson said, “We’re in a similar category of artists, so I try to be as unique as I can.”

If you think the two teen stars are constantly talking the music biz, think again. When they hang out, it’s “less about music and more about chilling.”

Simpson’s first studio album, Paradise, came out in October, and he’s already in the studio working on the follow-up. He’s definitely finding that his sound is growing up with him, so expect a more mature album when it is released.

It’s not all work for the teen though. If Simpson isn’t in the studio, most likely you will find this surf enthusiast “down at the ocean,” which is his own personal paradise away from his music career.

So, what’s next for the accomplished pop star? He couldn’t have given SheKnows a better answer:

“I want to a better artist and a better person. There’s always room for improvement.”

Cody Simpson’s special appearance on The Biggest Loser airs Monday, Feb. 4, on NBC.

During a recent interview with Hollywire, Shane Harper talked about what it was like to tour with Cody & Greyson Chance during the Waiting 4U Tour last year! + MTV interviews Cody about his new EP!
Posted on: June 16, 2012 by Declan Filed Under: Interviews, Paradise, Preview to Paradise Comments: No Comments

Get More: Music News

Before Cody Simpson drops his full-length Paradise album in October, he’s giving fans a bit of a preview with a four-track EP released on Tuesday (June 12). And from the looks of Preview to Paradise, there’s a mix of everything, all with that Simpson touch.

“I wanted to show each aspect of the album and they all fit together well, while being diverse at the same time,” the Aussie told MTV News on Tuesday. “With my single ‘Wish You Were Here,’ it showed the dance/pop side of my album. [With] ‘Gentleman,’ I wanted to showcase the singer/songwriter aspect of what I do and I thought they all went well together as well.

“My favorite song? I don’t know! It’s like having four little kids,” he added. “You can’t really pick a favorite, but I do like ‘Wish You Were Here’ because it’s a great dance song and will be my single for the summer.”

“Wish You Were Here” certainly proclaims his love for pop music, and having hit the studio with two of the biggest producers/writers working in the game only adds to the song’s pure pop feel, highlighted by the song’s pulsing beat and Simpson’s swoon-worthy admissions like “All I want/ Is to be home with you.”

“It’s a really great feeling when you put a song out there that you feel could compete with artists like the biggest artists out there right now. It’s amazing,” he said. “I recorded this song with amazing producers Dr. Luke … and I wrote it with Taio Cruz and they both had a lot of experience and a lot of big summer hits. It’s cool to be able to work with people that have had experience with that [and] make it as best as it can be while making it my own.”

However, while “Wish” is a dance-influenced track, he notes that his musical signature isn’t in the world of churning out club-bangers. “Being a pop artist you also have to have your own little twist here and there,” he said. “I feel like when you get to know an artist and you listen to all their music you kind of start to see things that they do in songs that make it [theirs]. I play a lot of guitar. ‘Wish You Were Here’ doesn’t have too much guitar in it, but I feel like that’s uniquely me.”

In addition to dropping Preview to Paradise, the singer is wrapping up his own spate of shows this week. Then he will hit the road with Big Time Rush beginning in July. The tour will kick off on July 5 in Columbus, Ohio, before wrapping up in September, just in time for him to catch his breath before his album drops on October 2.
